In Terms 2 and 3 we studied the prints of a talented Pasifika artist: Ulandandherbrothers She was kind enough to send us her work, so we could see and feel her prints. As you can see, we were over the moon to receive an artist’s work. It just doesn’t happen! It was very important for us too, so we could see how to apply her techniques to our own pieces.

Our art pieces have been based on the humpback whale print.

“This linoprint of a humpback whale swimming through floating tropical leaves is inspired by stories from my husband’s family of seeing and being around these majestic creatures in the beautiful waters of Vava’u, Tonga.” 

When we read the explanation we had a huge discussion about the purpose of our artwork. Just as she was inspired by the stories of her husband, we were inspired to transform people’s thinking.
